Jungle Theatre Company
The Jungle Theatre Company is a Cape Town based NPO that brings the magic of theatre to the children of disadvantaged communities. Their mission is to inspire young people to understand and care for community, culture and nature and give them the knowledge and tools to make positive changes in their lives and build a peaceful and vibrant South Africa.
The artistic team draws on South Africa’s cultural heritage and indigenous language to create connections between environment and human nature and with the use of music, dance, masks, puppets and storytelling, create original accessible Africa children’s theatre.
The aim is to raise awareness, educate, motivate and inspire children and youth. The workshops help to develop skills and build self- confidence. The team works with educational, social, environmental, health and art organisation to assist in development and education.
Their offerings are:
· Original African theatre productions doe children and young people on social, cultural and environmental themes
· Theatre workshop for children and young people
· Creative art clubs with children for children
· Holiday programmes – fun with theatre making
· Theatre skills training for adults working with children and young people
· Resources including – colouring-in books, story cards, activity books, audio recordings and videos, that are aligned to the CAPS School curriculum.
